About you

We’re on the lookout for someone who has an understanding of emergent grocery trends, the commercial acumen to maximise the performance of the different products and categories in our store and the ability to develop and manage key supplier relationships.

You will be particularly aware of brands with sustainable attributes, well versed in the principles of sustainability across food and non-food groceries and curious to follow, challenge and lead the debate.

You will be prepared to do both the strategic work and the graft to carry it out. For example, happy to roll your sleeves up to source and update product information, as well as identifying and negotiating the onboarding of new products.

You will live and breathe sustainable living and have the vision for developing a brand of sustainable products to reach a mainstream audience. You will have proven experience of building and leading a team, and will ensure that fun, pace and a good dose of entrepreneurial spirit live alongside solid experience

What you’ll do

  • Develop and manage the commercial and brand foundations for all pricing and listing decisions across packaged and zero waste products

  • Build product data depth, ensure the accuracy of listings and develop and implement the sustainability metrics for each product

  • Curate and fine tune the products we choose to sell, how we choose to sell them.

  • Ensure that key new categories launch in line with the strategy plan to hit the lifting sales targets.

  • Lead the team to curate, develop and optimise product ranges that deliver the planned margin targets, align to the Good Club sourcing policy and create a point of difference to the supermarkets.

  • Be data driven - comfortable working and analysing large sets of data to create recommendations and implement changes

  • Work with the Head of Ops and Head of Finance to ensure reliability of stock and margins are on target.

  • Work to continually improve availability throughout the supply chain and be proactive in taking steps to drive this.

  • Work with the operations team and supply base to monitor, adapt and continually improve the food safety management system

  • Build a small buying and merchandising team for H2,2021

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable achievements of results in terms of sales, margin, availability and wastage

  • Proven experience in overseeing a diverse supplier base, including relationship management, building joint business plans and negotiating contracts and price

  • Solid experience in category management, product development, forecasting and stock management.

  • A genuine interest in sustainability and living and doing business by the values of Good Club

  • A passion for good food and an interest in food trends

  • A high level of commercial acumen and numeracy

  • Proven experience managing food safety system processes

  • Proven experience in developing, managing and coaching a team

Team

We’re a small but experienced, values-driven, cross-functional remote team composed of engineering, UX/design, marketing, ops, finance and customer support.

We’re a fully remote team on flexible hours (but generally available between 10am-4pm GMT) to accommodate busy family lives, but require attendance to once or twice a month face-to-face days in London for planning and larger quarterly all-hands meetings/social events.
